On the public hearing
The general topic for the public hearing on Europe and the EU 2006 was what will happen with the European Co-operation in the years to come: Which problems have to be solved better now by our politicians.

Approximately 400 participants had been chosen to participate as a representative sample of the Danish electorate on the basis of a major opinion poll regarding their attitudes to European policy issues.

Europahøring 2006 was designed as politically non-biased as possible. During the weekend most of the work was carried out in groups that was led by an experienced chairman to ensure that everybody was able to express their opinion.

Leading politicians and well-known experts was invited to take part in panel debates with the participants. In addition, parties and NGO's was allotted rooms in connection with the hearing where representatives had the opportunity to follow and comment on the hearing and participants could contact them if they wanted to discuss certain matters.

Finally the participants filled out 3 questionnaires on the topics debated during the weekend. The results of Europahøring 2006 will be included in the report that the European Affairs Committee hand over to the Danish Prime Minister before the meeting of the European Council in June 2006.
